Hi, I'm Rachel!
Massage therapist, nerd, retired equestrian athlete.
When my time as an equestrian athlete came to an abrupt end, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do next. It wasn’t until I completed my second yoga teacher training that I became obsessed with anatomy. I knew I wanted a program that was anatomy-focused, but knew something like nursing wasn’t for me. Massage therapy seemed like the perfect fit, even though I had no real interest in actually touching people at all. I figured I’d find a way around that part—but then I discovered just how powerful hands-on treatment could be for helping people, and I’ve been hooked ever since.
I graduated from the Mount Royal University 2200-hour program with a deep passion for helping athletes and active individuals achieve peak performance, prevent injuries, and recover effectively. Since then, I’ve continued expanding my skill set with certifications in Evidence-Informed Clinical Cupping, Advanced Kinesiology Taping, Advanced Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization, and Percussive Therapy.
If you’re looking for a typical spa-style relaxation massage, that’s not what I do. My focus is on performance, recovery, and injury prevention—not on simply making you feel relaxed for an hour. While the vibe in my treatment room is laid-back, with great music and zero spa fluff, my treatments are built around getting you real results.
I take a dynamic approach to each session, treating the tissue as it presents itself on the day of your appointment. Your body changes, so your treatment should too. Instead of sticking to a rigid plan that ignores your current needs, I tailor each session based on how you’re feeling and what your body requires at that moment. This flexible approach allows me to adapt to what’s actually happening in your muscles and joints, leading to better results.
I also work with your nervous system, not against it. By respecting your body’s natural responses and patterns, we can achieve deeper, more effective work without forcing anything or triggering unnecessary tension. This collaboration with your nervous system helps create lasting improvements in how you move, feel, and perform.
My approach is grounded in the biopsychosocial model, focusing on the whole person. I believe in working collaboratively with my clients to develop massage therapy plans that optimize performance, prevent injury and enhance recovery. I also specialize in supporting clients with Hypermobility Syndrome and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, helping them manage their unique needs as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Growing up, I spent over a decade riding horses and competing in 3-day eventing, dressage, and show jumping across Ontario and Alberta. My equestrian background has given me unique insight into the demands of the sport, allowing me to specialize in working with equestrian athletes. I love translating issues experienced in the saddle into effective solutions on and off the treatment table.
When I’m not in the treatment room, you’ll find me at the gym, hiking when the weather's warm, visiting my senior horse, reading, cooking, or diving into my latest hyperfixation. I also love spending time with family and friends and continuing to learn.
Please note that I do not treat:
